Flagship session

Validator Operations Intensive

Two days, six participants maximum, held at our Daegu reading room with access to a testnet rack.

Who this is for

Operators who already run a mainnet-beta validator and can SSH into their own hardware. You should arrive comfortable with solana-validator --ledger paths and basic stake delegation. We do not teach Linux administration from scratch.

What you leave with

A annotated runbook for your own identity keypair, a failover checklist tested against our local testnet, and a shared channel with other participants for post-session log questions during the following epoch.

Included

  • Printed glossary reference for the terms covered each day
  • Guided tower-vote trace using your vote account pubkey
  • Snapshot recovery drill with intentional corruption scenarios
  • Skip-rate triage lab using historical log exports
  • Lunch both days and evening office hours on day one

Not included

  • Mainnet stake or hosting fees
  • Travel and accommodation to Daegu
  • Ongoing managed operations after the session ends

Two-day outline

  1. Day 1 morning — Identity and vote plumbing. Map your vote account to tower state. Read recent root slots and bank hashes from live RPC.
  2. Day 1 afternoon — Snapshot paths. Compare incremental vs full snapshots. Practice recovery when the ledger disk fills mid-epoch.
  3. Day 1 evening — Open log clinic. Bring one week of your own logs for group review.
  4. Day 2 morning — Skip-rate signals. Distinguish network partitions from local disk stalls using gossip and banking-stage timing.
  5. Day 2 afternoon — Failover drill. Promote a warm standby identity on testnet hardware with instructor supervision.

Prepare by exporting two weeks of validator logs and noting your current client version. Send both when you inquire so we can tailor examples.
